Thoughts
Well a surprise release from R.A.P. Ferreira this morning. Thanks to the homie Rove for posting it in the IG rap chat or I would have missed out on it. I honestly didn’t even check any of the details, I just copped it on the strength. It is a 333 pressing and sold out in a few hours this morning. No surprise there. Now to forget about it as Noyz told me it was a 9-12 month lead time. The last preorder from him was longer than that so, this will be a breeze.
Some great news this week on the local (Saskatoon) live show front with two really dope show announcements. I am just putting this out there incase anyone was planning on coming this way as you may want to organize your trip around either of these events.
The first one is taking place at Amigos June 16th. It is a celebration for Factor Chandeliers new album Moving Like A Planet. The lineup is great and features the homies Ceschi, Nolto, Moonbeams (Parab Poet and The The Free), Alex Bent and The Emptiness and more. It is a real treat to get to see a solo Ceschi show these days as he is insanely busy with his group the Codefendants as they take the music world by storm. My understanding is this is the only weekend he could have done it and it almost didn’t work out anyways. I am so glad it did and that he will be in town to celebrate this incredible record. Factors album is available still for preorder.
The Second show is the return of Summer Fling and it is quite the return if you ask me. This one is going down the July 21st and 22nd weekend also here in Saskatoon. There are two event going down that weekend with a traditional rap show Friday at Amigos and a Graff Jam party with performances all day Saturday at the Night Oven Bakery. The show on Friday is in celebration of Rove’s sophomore solo album Poke The Bear and features a star studded lineup with Sole headlining the night. Also performing that night are all the homies including Turn The Gun (Yy & The Gumshoe Strut), Id Obelus, and Noblonksi. It is going to be a night for the books as I like to say. I will drop more information as we close in on the date. I can’t wait for this one!
The good folks at Urbnet are having a flash sale 15$ each on the following records.
We’re having a long weekend flash sale on select LPs for only $15.

Record One
AzrealRapsGood x The Dirty Sample - Content
Another sure shot from the homies at Hand’Solo Records and yeah another heater from The Dirty Sample on the beats. He seems to kind of be the in house producer over there right now and I am all here for it. I love hearing all these different rappers over his beats. I know he has had a long time relationship with the label but it is on another level these days. ArealRapsGood is coming off such a strong release with 2020’s Maddhappy and he just keeps the party going. I am a big fan of his delivery and style as it just sounds so cool and confident in the best rap way. This one is as good if not better than I expected and it will be in the rotation for quite some time. Traded Shoes is my jam so far on this one but there are a lot of serious contenders.
Record Two
Illogic x Odd Nosdam - Right The Ship
This was a really nice surprise from Audio Recon and to see it get a proper physical release and on vinyl at that is extra satisfying. This originally dropped in 2019 and it was really disappointing that there was no physicals released to present it in a proper manner. It is too good of an album to not get a physical release. Illogic is such an underrated mc. I always enjoy everything he releases Trafik Jam is my jam since acquiring the vinyl. The drums own this a record will split your dome. so be warned.

In 2006, Epic, soso and I ventured across the Atlantic to rock some shows In Europe. We hit the ground running and linked up with the homie Pierre The Motionless in France. We rocked a show in Amiens and then retreated back to Pierre’s hometown of Claremont. We had 4 or so days there until we ventured out again on the road. We dropped off Epic at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and he went to rock a show in Moscow. We didn’t know if we would see Epic again but we were fairly confident we would. So, soso and I had a few days to kill and explore France and get to know our host better. It was one of the best four day spans of my life.
Pierre’s mom was a teacher at the local school. He asked if we had any interest in going to talk to the Kids about Canada. I was pretty excited about the opportunity having been a a teacher for a 7 month stretch before leaving the profession I guess for good. I don’t really see myself going back to it but I won’t officially close that door or let that ship sail. Pierre let his mom know we were down to come to the school. She didn’t tell the kids we were coming but rather she told them her son had some friends visiting from Canada and that they could each write a question and we would answer some of them, I guess through correspondence.
Pierre took us to the school. The school was not all that different from schools I had been in previous in Canada. We didn’t even have to check in at the office, or get a name tag or anything like that. We just walked in and went to the classroom. The kids were so excited and surprised to see us. We fielded questions for half an hour or so and I did my best to reinforce all the Canadian stereotypes I could. soso busted my balls pretty good after that. They asked lots of questions around snow and the north and what I said was not, not true but it was just not common. Anyways, it was a lot of fun and they sang us a song in French that was really sweet. It was a really fun and special moment for me and one I think about from time to time. They were the sweetest kids and had the best French accents. I really hope all of those kids are doing well today.
One of my favourite parts of touring and playing shows was all the random adventurers like this that would take place. This is one of my favourite memories from that tour and one I think about a lot. I really enjoyed those 4 days in Claremont so much so I sometimes dream of moving there. It is everything I always thought and dreamed what France would be like. I even saw people with baguette holders in their baskets on their bikes. I thought that was the the ultimate. I went to a corner store and bought a 1.5L Coke which was the biggest size they had. Upon paying for it, I cracked it open and took a big chug of it. The man behind the counter was like are you American? I was like no Canadian and he said it figures and went about his business. Pierre informed me that is the size that a family of four would buy and would last them a week. I finished it on our walk home.
