Incase you haven’t checked your email tonight there is another Bandcamp Friday and there are some serious heavy hitters dropping albums tomorrow. So do what you can and support as much as you can. These are the five things I am really excited about dropping tomorrow. So happy for all the homies involved in a lot of these projects.

Another heater of a project from the homie Drummachinemike dropped today!! Check it out!!
Sorry no Third Verse last night. This is not really rap either but I wanted to share AS I was/am really stoked on this. I have got back into hockey as a fan for a variety of reasons this season and I have been going to a lot Saskatoon Blades games and I bought playoff pass. They had a game last night and it ended up being their last as they lost out to the Winnipeg Ice in the Eastern Conference Final of the Western Hockey League playoffs. It was a really fun ride as a fan as the Blades were an incredible team to cheer for. Last night during the first intermission I was standing on the concourse and I said to my brother, “Is that Kevin Kaminski?” He was like, “yeah it is”. I was like, “I have to go say hi.” I was weirdly nervous about walking over. He was getting a 50/50 ticket and he thought I was trying to get one and stepped to the side. I was like, “hey, are you Kevin Kaminski?” and he was like “I am”. We needed up talking for about 5 minutes and he shared a few stories with me and my brother and we took some pictures. He was so nice and generous with his time. He is the Head Coach and GM of the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the SJHL. I wished him all the best and I got this photo with him last night. He was one of my all time favourite players as a kid and you still see quite a few people wearing Kaminski jerseys at Blades games still. Killer as he was affectionately know as has always been a fan favourite and that should really retire his number. He is probably the all time most popular Blade and played on some of the toughest WHL teams ever assembled in the 80’s that featured future NHL tough guys Tony Twist and Kelly Chase. It was really awesome.
Record One
Eric B & Rakim Super 7 Figures
Super 7 knocked it out the park with two pack action figure set. I was hoping for this one for quite some time and I think I may have willed it into existence. I was so excited when they teased it and then finally dropped it last week. I like that both figures are in the same card back. I also like the outfits they gave them with the classic Dapper Dan Paid In Full fit. Also the stacks of cash money each figure comes with is the icing on the cake.
Record Two
L*Roneous - Imaginarium
If you know me at all the you know my insane love affair with the track Lchemy from this album. It is a perfect rap song in every sense of the word and I never ever get sick of listening to it. The L’chemy 12” is in my pile of I can only grab a handful of records for the rest of my life. I didn’t have the original vinyl LP pressing of this album and I didn’t even know it existed until a few years back. I was hoping for a repressing of this and when Hip Hop Enterprise dropped that they were teaming up with the new upstart label Boombap Relickz on this release I was in. I think they teased it a few months prior to it dropping. It is an incredible pressing. It is a double LP, gate fold on a really sick matte finish jacket. It features a few bonus cuts and includes a gatefold lyric insert that features quotes from various publications from when it dropped 25 years ago. This one is on the pricey side but worth every penny. Just an incredible presentation all around for this all time classic.
Rap Shirt
This weeks shirt features a double collab from two of my favorites. Back Burner and Hand’Solo Records.
Classic Material
Mail Order
The resurgent of ATAK on Instagram and this super dope roster shirts had me thinking about mail-order hip hop. I think mail order was way more prevalent in the United States than it was in Canada. I really came in to ATAK right at the end and I actually never ordered anything from them. I mainly just ordered from websites at this time like Sandbox Automatic, LA 2 The Bay, So Far West, Access Hip Hop and Hip Hop Infinity to name some of the most frequented. I was looking through some of my archives for some inspiration for this weeks Classic Material and I came across this mail order customer invoice/receipt from Superhero Mail-Order Distribution out of Montclair California from March 20, 2000.
I have no idea how I cam across this mail-order. The only clue is that there is an Orko - Rules of ThumB EP picture of the tape in the top right corner as coming soon. That album was produced and released by Shrmpy of the Isosceles, so he must have put me on to this. Anyways in looking at the prices and what I ordered my jaw almost hit the floor. None of it makes any sense. 12” records for .50$ and 1$, how and why? It seemed sort of like a record pool kind of thing I guess. Insanity regardless. These were American prices and I remember shipping seemed like a lot at that time but still 51.49$ for the lot of records is one hell of a deal. I got all the records but for some reason I don’t remember getting the Murs MCTV VHS though. I know I have never owned it, I have only ever seen Factor’s copy of it. Anyways in these days of insane record prices, shipping, inflation and the end of the world, I just wanted to share some wildness from what seems like a life time ago. Enjoy.
