Thoughts
There is this new spot in town that this dude goes down to the states and loads up on American confections and groceries that you can’t get in Canada. I went there for the first time on Saturday and I didn’t know what I was walking into. The stores is narrow about 15 feet wide and it is long about 50 or so feet. There were like 70 people in line ahead of me. I am a seasoned line vet so I got in line and waited my turn. Shit was flying off the shelves. There were insanely fast on the check out though which made things go fast and everyone was orderly so it was actually an okay experience. Anyways I just wanted to share my pick ups. I am a pop fiend but I have really cut way back and limited my daily consumption. I did scoop a case of each of one of these though!
If you read this, then you have heard me write about 90’s Tapes releases. I am a fan of the label and have picked up about 25 or so of the releases to date. They do a god job of announcing their release dates lately which is helpful but also it has made purchasing vinyl copies almost impossible. The label is located Germany with HHV. The drops are while I am sleeping and generally when I wake up at 6 am I am able to decide if I want to buy the the vinyl or not, but the last couple of drops have been sold out well before I woke up. They generally press 500 vinyl which is a large number for a pressing in this kind of demographic. They are a well oiled machine and clearly know what they are doing. Props to that. However they have been pretty short with anyone who complains about missing out and who live in other parts of the world. I understand what it feels like to be disappointed and to miss out on a record you really wanted. I have really worked on getting over that over the last number of years. Sometimes it still stings though. I just think it is a bad look to treat people who want to support and buy things from you that way. They have said in not so many words they don’t care about North American buyers as the majority of the sales come from the others side of the Atlantic. C’est La Vie as they say.
On a different note I got to bring my two dogs, Mickey and Stevie to the Blades pucks and paws game on Tuesday. It was super fun to take them to hockey game. They got some hot dog and popcorn and had an awesome time at the game. We even got to get a photo with Pokecheck. Rove also brought his puppy Rusty and sat with us. It was the best!

Record One
Joe Harvey and WhoisLouis - The Joe Louis EP
I was not familiar with this one prior to purchasing, however it had all the endorsement I needed in Idobelus co-signing it and the support of Audio Recon in releasing it on Standard Chaps Black Vinyl. It is a 10th Anniversary first time to vinyl release edition of 50. The has that classic midwest underground hip hop sound that dominated the early to mid 2000’s for many of us. This is just a really enjoyable record front to back and not definitely leaves you yearning for more in the best kind of way My Jams are Get Started and Boom Kicks! There a still a handful of this available if you want one.
Rest in Peace mc/producer Jason Mann aka WhoisLouis 1981-2018 and thoughts and love to all those affected by his passing.
Record Two
Luke Sick & Bad Shane - P.O.A
This is such a great team up of a producer and rapper who are in tune with one another and a perfect match. This 5 song record pressed as you guessed it on Standard Chaps Black Vinyl features the instrumentals on the b-side and is perfect vinyl release. I like this format for a vinyl release and wish more people would do it. My jam is they bass heavy 808 drone Acura Trucks. It is a heater!
